How RoomSignal works

A quick guide to staying in sync with your household.

Statuses

Available

You're around and open to interruptions.

Busy

You're occupied but not heads-down. Others can still reach you.

Focus

Deep work — please don't disturb unless it's urgent.

Away

You're not at your desk or not home.

On Air

You're live — recording, on a call, or streaming. Do not disturb.

Timed status

After setting any non-available status, you'll see timer buttons below — 30m, 1h, or 2h. Tap one and your status resets to Available automatically when the time is up.

→No timer? Your status stays until you change it manually.

→Active timer shows a resets in Xm badge. Tap Clear to cancel it.

→Setting Available always clears the timer immediately.

Notes

You can attach a short note to any status — useful for context like “on a call”, “back at 3pm”, or “at the gym”. Notes show under your name on everyone else's tiles.

→Tap your current active status a second time to open the note input.

→Type your note (up to 60 characters) and tap Save.

→Notes are optional — leave it blank to clear an existing one.

→Switching to a different status doesn't carry the note over — each status starts fresh.

Nudges

If someone is Busy, Focused, Away, or On Air, you can send them a nudge — a gentle in-app ping that says "when you're free, come find me."

→Tap Nudge on their tile in the room view.

→They'll see a banner when they open the room.

→The nudge clears automatically when they set themselves to Available.

→The dashboard shows a nudge count pill on each group card so you don't miss them.

Groups

A group is a shared space where everyone can see each other's status in real time. You might have one group for your household and another for a remote team.

→Create a group from the dashboard with + New Group.

→Invite people via Settings inside the group — they'll get a magic link by email.

→Status updates broadcast instantly to everyone in the room — no refresh needed.

→The Set status in all groups bar on the dashboard updates every group at once.
